This Independence Day, I am in Getxo on the northern coast of Spain.

 

Every time I leave the country, even for a short period of time, it is not long before I once again become aware of how VERY glad I am to be an American.  Our country is far from perfect - we have a lot to work on.  And some countries in the world are doing better than us at certain things.  But on the whole, I have yet to visit anywhere in the world better than the USA.  If you have never traveled outside of the US, you just can't appreciate how fortunate you are and how comfortable your life is compared to the rest of the world.  We really do have a fantastic country.
